Since my flight home is well before the sun sets today, I figured I’d get up early and catch a sunrise!
…not that it’s especially hard to do this time of year- the sun rises a little after 7am and the traffic starts picking up by 0530- I was awake well before my alarm, which was ok because I’ve got some gear that isn’t quite dry yet and that gave me a chance to get it hung outside again before walking down to the beach:

A giant cruise ship heading to port:

Good morning, sun!

Some ominous-looking clouds rolling in to the north- rain is in the forecast for later today, but should hold off until after I leave (hopefully! otherwise I’ll be packing wet gear for sure!):

Definitely worth waking up early for:

I liked the little sailboat silhouette:

I have at least an hour drive down to the airport (depending on traffic) and still have to refuel my rental car, and I’m not sure what the TSA situation will be like when I get there, so my plan was to leave no later than 10a (my flight is at 1330).
I was on the road by 0930- go me!
This train, while not quite as zoomy as 80mph, was still pretty speedy and nice and short, so he didn’t cause much of a delay:

I saw that traffic alert earlier, but the road was clear. Then I came around the curve:

Even so, from the time I dropped off my rental car to the time I cleared security was under half an hour. None of the lines seemed very long, but I was flying out of one of the smaller terminals, so that probably helped (as does having PreCheck).
Fortunately, I’m leaving with more snacks that I came with, so I had plenty to much on while waiting for my flight:

And a few hours later, I was back home.
All in all, a successful trip- I tested out some new gear, identified a few issues and ironed out some kinks. Should be all geared up for the Galapagos later this summer! And while I didn’t get to do all the dives I wanted, I found the warm weather and palm trees and got to breathe underwater.
And that’s always good trip in my book.
