I tried to pack last night, but it started getting humid so some things that were dry when the sun was still up were a bit damp once the sun went down. I left a few things out overnight and by morning, they were dry enough to survive a few hours in my suitcase.
I once again got upgraded (though I’m pretty sure I won’t have that whole row to myself):
It took about 45 minutes to get through security (no TSA PreCheck here), but that still left me plenty of time to find chocolate and coffee to bring back home for my parents 🙂
Then, it was onto the tarmac and onto my plane:
and time to bid farewell (for now) to Belize!
I will definitely be back- there’s a lot more variety here than in Florida and the flight isn’t that much longer. I don’t know that I’d go back on the Aggressor III though- the crew was awesome, but bunk beds are not my style and all dive lights/batteries had to be charged outside on the camera table:
That middle shelf (just above the green cases) is where all the extension cords lived. I understand why they want things charging outside (fire risk), but that means I was setting my camera up outside and while I tried to shove all my chargers to the middle, as far under the table as I could, I was worried about spray (either from rain or the ocean) damaging or corroding my equipment. Plus, my camera’s vacuum sealer is sensitive to humidity and stopped working after the first day (the vacuum still held but the indicator light stopped functioning). The one day I bought it inside and sealed it in my room it worked just fine.
That being said, the crew was amazing- there were only 7 of them (and one was dedicated to night watch and slept during the day) and they worked so hard to make sure we had a great time and while the dive platform is set up different than I’m used to, they had a system and made it work smoothly.
The food was amazing and even though I’m kind of a picky eater, I never went hungry and our chef was more than willing to accommodate any requests (within reason/ability- if it’s not on the boat, we can’t eat it).
I can’t wait to come back!
