Today was mostly a driving day.  I had originally planned for us to check out the butterfly house at Callaway Gardens but it was kinda pricey since we only planned to check out the butterflies and not the rest of the gardens.  So we opted to skip it and just start driving.  Look at this cool bridge we found!

Since we would be on the road for a good chunk of the day, I figured we should try out some more southern fast food:

Captain D’s (or Captain Catfish, as I kept calling it- isn’t their fish logo just adorable!?) offers drive-thru seafood.  I was kinda skeptical, but it also felt like something we had to try once, so I got tilapia and Matt got salmon, and it was ready in about 5 minutes!

It was actually better than I expected and neither of us got sick.  Success!

We broke up our drive with a hike at Providence State Park:

Billed as Georgia’s Mini Grand Canyon, this was an easy 2.5 mile loop, with short branches off to the canyons.  It looks like the storms that washed out part of the trails in the north also visited this park:

I imagine these rivers flood when it rains, but today was sunny and dry, so we hiked along this mostly dry bed into one of the canyons:

Look at those colors!

You could hike into some of the slots between the rocks- the air was surprisingly cool, like natural AC

Partway through the hike, we came across this car graveyard:

We made it back to the top!

Look at those views!

See the little people down there?  That’s where we were hiking!

We still had a few hours left to drive before getting to our hotel, so we stopped at Bojangles’ for dinner.  DO NOT STOP AT THE BOJANGLES IN TIFTEN!  We placed our order, paid, then were asked to pull ahead to wait, which is normal.  Then we waited for over 20 minutes as the runner brought out food for the people in front of us, then the people behind us, then stopped coming out.  So after waiting for half an hour, I finally went up to the window and asked what was going on.  Apparently, they were waiting on the berry biscuit I ordered, which was conveniently ready once I asked.  The rest of our food was sitting on the counter, waiting, getting cold.  Oh, and to top it off, they got my sandwich wrong- I ordered a grilled chicken but got some spicy, Cajun breaded thing.  Ugh.

0/10, would not recommend.
