Today is mostly a driving day to get us back to Boston for an early flight home tomorrow, but first, pancakes!

Vermont maple syrup is a thing, and yesterday I realized we hadn’t tried any yet, so I found this pancake place: Maple Sugar and Vermont Spice.

I got a stack of maple sugar and cinnamon pancakes (to share- both Matt and I were intrigued by this one) and Matt’s sampler came with a short stack of pancakes (apple, which I wanted to try) as well as bacon, sausage and eggs. And it was SO GOOD!!! The cinnamon/sugar pancakes were dusted in cinnamon and perfectly spiced and my apple pancakes were apple-y and moist and came with more apples on top. If we had discovered this place sooner, we would have eaten here more often. Prices were quite reasonable and the food was delicious!

Before we hit the road, I figured we should do one last hike, so I found this short trek to Thundering Falls waterfall:

Apparently it’s part of the Appalachian trail? so now I can say I’ve hiked (part of) the Appalachian trail- go me!

The first part of this little 1/2 mile hike is a nice boardwalk:

Then a packed gravel section leading up to the falls:

This waterfall is actually a bit more extensive than it first appeared to be- if you climbed a bit higher along the falls, you can see where the water cascades off the side and into a little river (though it was kinda hard to capture in pictures):

And if you scramble up this root-y, rocky section:

You can find another waterfall!

A little higher yet, this part of the waterfall had a cool rock formation blocking the water a the base:

And finally, the dam on top:

Farewell, waterfall! This was another fun find!

And now, it’s time to make our way back down to Boston.

Farewell, fun colors!
